"What they seem to do generically is they seem to dissolve boundaries and the ego is in the business of creating, maintaining and defending boundaries. So, I really see the psychedelics as directly intervening in the core process, which is running us over the edge, which is our inability to emotionally connect with the consequences of what we're doing. If for a single moment we could feel what we're doing, we would stop." Terence Mckenna
"Drugs are enormous big business and not psychedelic drugs. The deep dramatic psychedelics don't produce great amounts of money at all. What they do produce is questioning minds. They cause people to ask questions. They cause people to ask for clarification. They cause people to challenge cultural values because they decondition you. If you take psychedelics you will question your first premises and that is a business that all governments are in the business of repressing." Terence Mckenna
"The most powerful narcotic in the world is the promise of belonging, and in this culture, we belong by being cool. Our desire for belonging can be satisfied at any store, for the right price. North American "cool" has become a global pandemic. Communities, traditions, and entire cultures are being replaced by American consumer culture. And it's killing the planet. It's a measure of the depth of our consumer trance that the death of the planet is not sufficient to break it." Kalle Lasn
"If the same laws were applied to U.S. presidents as were applied to the Nazis after World War II, every single one of them, every last rich white one of them from Truman on, would have been hung to death and shot -and this current administration is no exception. They should be hung, and tried, and shot. As any war criminal should be. But the challenges that we face, they go way beyond administrations, way beyond elections, way beyond every four years of pulling levers, way beyond that. Because this whole rotten system has become so vicious and cruel that in order to sustain itself, it needs to destroy entire countries and profit from their reconstruction in order to survive -and that's not a system that changes every four years, it's a system that we have to break down, generation after generation after generation after generation after generation... I have come to the understanding that musicians today are the modern day shamans of old. Shamans were sorcerers and storytellers. They would bless the tribes with visions and with stories. Because of their capabilities to inspire, they were allowed to eat better in non-egalitarian societies. Musicians these days seem to me to be the shamans of "yestermillenium". As the shamans have once done, musicians also fill our lives with rhythms, visions and stories. Through a manufactured separation between musician and fan came to be this deifying of idols. Look at American Idol, a "three months ago" nobody has their name shouted out religiously by a herd of self-selected unworthy followers. So, what? So, you worship false idols. You should be worshipping the work in progress that is YOU. No harm in appreciating the message or poetic construction of a song, but the messenger shouldn't be the one being worshipped. This boils down also to the idea that certain shamans have stories to tell, while others merely borrow other peoples' stories and others still, fill the air with noises and yet nothing of substance is uttered.
Now tell me, what does your favourite modern day shaman say in his or her story?
Hiiiiiiiiii...It has been such a long time!Well droping by to say that I miss you, you re the most interesting person I ve met...u r filled with ideas.
Well, take care, and say hi to your family :) Mumu
WTF is this? You go by as "Matt" now? I should have seen this coming the second I heard you introduce yourself to people during class! I guess it's a brothery kind of thing. I can't think of Matt, only Mati. We grow up together, time passes, I never see it go by when we're together. Friendships like these are rare. I'm thinking we're still 13, hanging out, having a good time. To the whole world you'll be Matt, but to me, you'll always be Mati. You know, the tall polish kid who slides on the grass after a rainy day and laughs his ass about it. The fun of it being so authentic, so "spur of the moment", that even if you're soaked in wet dirty grass, your laughter is genuine. Something I could probably never do, you know me, I'd be worried about too many things to conceptualize that this kind of comedic event should be taken lightly. Sure, here I am referencing it all again, but it's important people see how happy you can be in just about any situation. The essential part of the matter being that if this were to happen to you now, that look on your face, that smile, would still be there. So, through you, I am able to laugh about the things that I wouldn't be able to alone. Don't lose that--that essence of joy--tremendously important asset that so few possess.
Hey matt... great pics.... i like the whole "headless ghost one" It was really fun sitting next to you this semester in Anthropology class... Hopefully we'll cross each other in the hallways sooner than later .. take care of yourself and I'll admit it Sparta is pretty good but Nickelback is better ;P... take it easy ....Kelly
Hey kid, yeah, I like your taste in music too! Actually, the resemblances are scary! Oh yeah, that's right, it's because you basically took MY songs and made them yours. I should delete them just to piss you off! Where would you get your music from then, eh?! You weren't creative enough to even put them in a different order! Leech! LEECH! BLOODSUCKER! DRAINER AND TAINTER OF ANYTHING PURE AND ORIGINAL!! Enjoy the songs, putz!
HEY!!! and how am i supposed to forget you? lol all those dunny times in english class with me u and yavar!!! common!? well you are looking good yourself and i hope everything is going well for you!!! take care Tee
hey mati! thank you for the absolutely cool message - it warms my tiny-big heart :) yes, i am finally doing what i love and having friends like you to support me is truly a booster!! -- just watched the video with the painter dude and wow... *enlightenment*! that is art on another level! i will make sure to drop by more often..! see you soon!
the heart and mind love more than the body can express. (at least in this universe, in this dimension presently). i have been busy in the whirl of chaos. patience, my intelligent friend. conversation and breaking of the psyche barrier await thee..
hope you are happy and your mind roams the earth in freedom
For as long as I have known Mati, he has been a sigh of relief. The kind that let's you relax and laugh until you simply can't anymore. From the days he used to imitate Natoya, to him rolling flat on his ass on wet grass like he was at Super Aqua Club, all in all it's always been a blast. A friend, isn't a friend, or should I say isn't a best friend, until you get to rely on him for more serious matters. The kind that requires complete analysis and deep thinking only few people can provide. The kind where you find rescue in knowing there is someone out there that understands you completely. We'll never grow apart because we both understand what real friendship is. Mati is a psychological thinker and I am more of a romantic, a clash of minds that results in deep conversations. Here's for the years that were and to many more. We're friends, but most of all we're brothers!
Hey Mat - So you say you look like Kurt..You need way more drugs to look like him !!! Ha ha ha. But I bet you're working hard to get there right now. Aren't ya? Yeah well things don't change...I am usually against chats & sites like Hi5..But you know what? I met lots of peps from Dorval ( Check in my frinds ).Nostalgia hit me & now I'm sending messages to all of them...Alright here is my testimony...Okey this guy - way back in High School used to be talest dude I've ever met. Now he's just tall...but he picked up on some dark side shiet!! Mat you're poetic and that's a good sign. I don't think many people from High school can challenge you mentally right now. We haven't see each other for a while so I'll be brief. My final words: Mat is a cool mo fo.
congruatulation!!!
